H5 Appoints Former Oracle General Counsel Raymond L. Ocampo Jr. to Board of Directors
Industry veteran brings 30 years of legal and technology expertise to H5
SAN FRANCISCO — January 16, 2008 — H5, the leading provider of automated document analysis and information risk management services for the legal industry, today announced the appointment of Raymond L. Ocampo Jr., former senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary of Oracle Corporation to its board of directors. With more than 30 years of experience working with issues involving law and technology, Mr. Ocampo’s extensive background will bring strategic depth to H5’s board.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Ray to H5’s board,” said Nicolas Economou, CEO of H5. “His presence at Oracle during its years of transformation from a young company to a multibillion dollar market leader, as well as his broad experience at the intersection of technology and law, makes him an invaluable addition to our management team. We look forward to working with him and benefiting from his contributions.”
Mr. Ocampo formerly served as senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary of Oracle Corporation, the world’s second largest software company, where he was its chief legal officer for more than a decade. During his tenure, the company’s annual revenues grew from $50 million in 1986 to $5 billion in 1996.
After retiring from Oracle, Mr. Ocampo co-founded the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology in 1997, and served as executive director for two years thereafter. The Center has been rated the leading intellectual property law program in American law schools for the past 10 years. Mr. Ocampo has spoken and written frequently on business and legal issues involving the intersection of law and technology and in particular software, Internet, and information technologies. He has also served as a mediator and arbitrator and as an expert witness in technology-related disputes.
“This is an exciting time for me to join H5’s board and to participate in the growth of the company,” said Mr. Ocampo. ”As businesses continue to contend with the increasing cost and complexities of discovery and legal information management, H5’s services will enable organizations to save significant amounts of time and expense and more effectively comply with their legal obligations.”
In addition to serving on the board of directors at H5, Mr. Ocampo also serves on the boards of PMI Group, Inc., CytoGenix, Inc., Intraware, Inc., and Keynote Systems, Inc. He is chairman of the board of the Asian Pacific Fund, a San-Francisco-based community service agency.
Mr. Ocampo joins H5’s Board of Directors as John C. Dean, former chairman and CEO of Silicon Valley Bancshares and Silicon Valley Bank, departs from his position on the Board. Mr. Dean had served since February 2003.
