Stanley Stroup is the former General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Wells Fargo & Company. A champion of corporate diversity, Stroup has over 30 years of experience in the legal and government relations issues facing the financial services industry during which he played a key role in building the respected corporate image of Wells Fargo. He also helped influence national legislation that created interstate banking and was instrumental in breaking down barriers among banking, brokerage and insurance industries to make the promise of one-stop shopping for financial services a reality for customers. In 1986, he became Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the former Norwest Corporation, which merged with Wells Fargo in 1998. Previously, he worked for the First National Bank of Chicago and the Bank of California. He graduated from the University of Illinois and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Stroup has been a valued member of H5’s Strategic Advisory Board since 2005.
